Springtime Homework Challenge

Next week instead of reading homework we are have a family challenge.

Spring is a lovely time of year where people celebrate the end of the winter months and beginning of new life. Lots of countries celebrate the start of Spring in different ways.

In Thailand they have a water festival where they throw water at each other.

In Mexico thousands of people wear white and gather round an enormous pyramid.

In India Holi is celebrated by throwing coloured powders and everyone gets covered.

In Bosnia people gather by the Bosna river at dawn and eat scrambled eggs.

In the UK we have different traditions including cheese rolling in England, Easter egg hunts, hot cross buns and Spring cleaning.

One old tradition in the UK was Easter bonnets where people would decorate a hat and take part in a parade.

Your family challenge is to create an Easter bonnet which you will wear in an Easter parade in school on the last day. There will be prizes for the most original, creative and colourful. You can have any design and use any materials you want. The only criteria is that it fits on a head without having to be held on.

Entries to be in school by Friday 30th March for the parade.

Good luck and enjoy being creative.
