Newsletter – Term 1 2022/23

Back to school

Welcome back everybody. I hope you all had a lovely summer and enjoyed the good weather. All the staff are looking forward to the new session and I am sure it will be a great year with many of the Covid restrictions behind us, new initiatives in school and lots of social events planned for throughout the year.

NEW TERM

As Covid restrictions ease we have been able to make a few changes to our routines.

All pupils start at 9am and leave at 3pm. You have been sent a Group Call reminding you of which gate and door your child will be using. When you are dropping off and collecting your child please stay outside the gate. This allows the staff and pupils a better of view so that parents can be spotted easily.

All our classes have break at 10.30 – 10.45am. Please provide a one healthy snack and something to drink  (non-fizzy and no energy drinks). We are no longer having a second snack in the afternoon. We try to get children out in all weathers so please ensure they have suitable clothing.

Lunch time is 12.10 to 12.55pm for all pupils. P1 and 2 and P6 and 7 have their lunch first and P3,4 and 5 get out to play. At 12.25 a second bell rings and the children change over. Once children have finished their lunch, they are allowed out to play. If you wish your child to come home for lunch, please contact the school.

As the new term begins can we ask you to make sure your child’s belongings are clearly named. This includes school bags, lunch boxes and all clothing.  Every year we have a lot of lost property that could have been returned to the pupil if it had a name on it. We have a lot of lost property from last session and we will be having a help yourself event in the playground, more details to be issued through Group Call.

Parent Council

We are looking to recruit more members to our parent council, Tullos Parent Voice. If you are interested in what is happening in school and would like to be involved, please join us at our meeting this term or get in contact with the school to register your interest. Dates will be issued in September for meetings.

This term

  • We have the Book Fayre back in school on 28th September to 3rd October. We will issue more information about how the children can access this nearer the time.
  • On Thursday 29th September we will be having a Wear It Pink Day in memory of our lovely Kacey Seivwright. Pupils will be requested to wear something in Kacey’s favourite colour; pink and may bring a donation if they wish, which will go towards a permanent school memorial for Kacey.
  • The Winter Flu Programme for pupils is in school at the end of term. Look out for the permission forms next week which need signed and returned to school within a week.
  • We will be inviting you into school for a curricular afternoon where there will be a chance for you to learn about some of the initiatives we are doing in Tullos and visit classrooms to see them in action.
